A cultural exchange forum for students of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) took place in May 26, with an eloquence contest in both Vietnamese and Korean languages.
The contest, themed “Vietnam and RoK’s roles in the world peace” attracted 13 students from both countries, representing three major universities in Ulsan, Busan and Kyeongnam.
Addressing the opening, President of the Association of People Who Love Vietnam in the RoK Park Kwang-joo said the event is a chance for youngsters, the future owners of both countries, to gain better understanding on the value of peace, and to exchange study experience and strengthen mutual understanding as well.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan described the contest as a practical activity to help students of both countries to deepen understanding on each other’s culture, nation and people.
Contestants highlighted cultural similarities between the two countries, the role that both countries play in the world peace in the context of sea and island disputes in the region and the nuclear issue in the Korean Peninsula.
Dinh Thi Ly Van from Youngsan University won the first prize with a speech on Vietnam and RoK’s efforts to affirm their roles in maintaining and protecting peace in the world.
