HCM City (VNA) – Leaders of Switzerland’s Credit Suisse and Aebi Schmidt Holding(ASH) Company expressed interest in smart urban development in Ho Chi Minh Cityduring a meeting with Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee TranVinh Tuyen on July 8.

Receiving ViceChairman of Credit Suisse’s Asia-Pacific Corporate Banking Urs Buchmann andASH’s CEO Barend Fruithof, Tuyen promised to send a list of 200 projects callingfor capital to Switzerland’s Credit Suisse and Aebi Schmidt Holding (ASH) Companyfor reference.  

He told theguests that in order to deal with flooding, waste treatment and trafficcongestion, the city has to adopt technological advances in management. In thenear future, it wants to choose pilot models in hospitals and schools, thenspread effective models further.

The city isbuilding four pillars for sustainable smart urban development, he said, addingthat it will also create favourable conditions for Credit Suisse to joinrelevant projects and partner with firms sponsored by the lender.

According tohim, Ho Chi Minh City wants to work with partners to launch projects instead ofusing State budget.

The hostwished that Credit Suisse would partner with the city and introduce Europeanfirms as partners to develop smart infrastructure there.

Buchmann,for his part, said the bank has organised trips for Swiss enterprises toVietnam to seek business deals since 1990.

CreditSuisse is also one of the first banks to work with partners in Vietnam and helpVietnamese firms in financial field, he said.

He said thebank wants to introduce businesses to the city to seek collaborationopportunities in smart urban and infrastructure development.

Fruithofsaid ASH manufactures a number of high-tech products such as airport cleaningequipment, street sweeping machines and agricultural products, among others.

He addedthat the company has switched from selling products to providing high-techsolutions for Asian market.-VNA

Domestic consumption up over 13%, tourism continues strong growth

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenues in August were estimated at 679.8 trillion VND (26 billion USD), up 1.6% from the previous month and 14.9% year-on-year. In the January-August period, the figure reached 5.24 quadrillion VND, representing a 13.3% increase year-on-year.

Hanoi moves to maintain appeal to FDI inflows

In the first eight months of 2026, the capital city attracted more than 3.7 billion USD in FDI, equivalent to 83% of the plan set for the year.
