Vietnam has been gradually moving away from a volume-oriented model towards an agricultural economy focused on value addition, quality, efficiency and sustainability.

The results, coupled with the trend of accelerating exports towards year-end, the total export value for 2025 may reach 67 billion USD.

As there is a finite area of agricultural production in Vietnam, experts suggest that attention must be focused on productivity, quality, and raw material zones linked to deep processing to achieve high-value agricultural products.

Vietnam’s agro-forestry-aquatic product export and import turnover was estimated at 22.6 billion USD in the first quarter of this year, up 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnam enjoyed a year-on-year rise of 13.1 percent in the export revenue of agro-forestry-fisheries products in the first 10 months of 2021 to nearly 38.75 billion USD, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The export value of agro-forestry-fisheries products in the first four months of 2021 stood at around 17.15 billion USD, a 24.2 percent increase year-on-year.

Export turnover in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in the first half of 2020 was estimated at 18.81 billion USD, a year-on-year decline of 3.4 percent.

Export revenue in April from agro-forestry-fisheries products was estimated at 2.9 billion USD, down 16.9 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has reported.

The agro-forestry-fisheries export turnover in September was estimated at 2.15 billion USD, bringing the nine-month figure to 21.65 billion USD, down 5 percent against the same period last year.
