Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on July 22 met with Wang Yi, Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Commission for Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-59) and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.

Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to ASEAN, chaired the 65th meeting of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force and the task force’s 11th consultation with ASEAN partners via videoconference on September 9 and 10.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and General Secretary of the National ASEAN 2020 Committee Nguyen Quoc Dung spoke of the organisation of the upcoming 36th ASEAN Summit as well as topics to be tabled for discussion at the meeting, during a press conference in Hanoi on June 23.

Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Defence Nguyen Chi Vinh and his Japanese counterpart Ro Manabe agreed that the China-ASEAN Code of Conduct (COC) on the East Sea should be effective and legally binding.
