The city targets the completion of 255km of urban railways by 2030 and will continue to invest in seven additional lines with a view to raising the total length to 532km by 2035.

Under the adjusted plan, the section from Ben Thanh to Tan Thuan will be built underground to reduce land clearance and compensation costs, while the stretch from Tan Thuan to Can Gio will remain elevated as previously designed.
