Construction sites for inter-level ethnic minority boarding schools in border communes across Dien Bien province are entering a crucial phase, with contractors racing against time to complete the projects before the start of the new academic year.
By the 2027-2028 academic year, Vietnam plans that border area communes with difficult travel conditions will construct inter-level boarding schools to meet local learning needs.
The simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony for 72 inter-level boarding schools combining primary and lower secondary education in land border communes took place on the morning of November 9. The event was broadcast live and connected with 14 locations via teleconferencing. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the main ceremony held at the Yen Khuong Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School in Thanh Hoa province.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a ceremony held in Yen Khuong commune, the central province of Thanh Hoa, on November 9, marking the start of work on 72 inter-level primary and junior secondary boarding schools in land border communes.
The simultaneous beginning of construction on 72 boarding schools, with the participation of leaders of the Government, ministries, sectors, and localities, is meant to reflect the strong determination and close coordination across the entire political system in caring for students in border areas.

The project is part of Da Nang’s plan to build six boarding and semi-boarding schools in border communes, in line with the Politburo’s directive issued in July 2025.
