Vietnam and Sri Lanka issued a joint statement on the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership during Party General Secretary and State President To Lam's state visit to Sri Lanka from May 7-8, marking a significant milestone in the two countries’ relations and opening a broader and more substantive framework for future cooperation.

Visitors were drawn to signature products such as pho, fresh spring rolls, Vietnamese coffee, instant noodles, dried bananas and jackfruit, coconut candy and handicrafts including bamboo dragonflies and leather wallets. Pho and spring rolls, regarded as “culinary ambassadors” of Vietnam, attracted long queues, while Vietnamese coffee sold out quickly.

A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) participated in discussions at the third meeting of the Asia-Europe Political Forum (AEPF) in Colombo, Sri Lanka from April 5-7.
