General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President To Lam called for stronger and more effective Vietnam–India defence cooperation at a reception in Hanoi on May 19 for Indian Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh, highlighting the momentum to translate high-level commitments into deeper and practical collaboration under the bilateral Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Vietnam highly evaluates India’s role and contributions to regional peace, stability and development, and always regards India as one of its most important partners, the top leader said.
Vietnam and India agreed to elevate the bilateral relations to Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the spirit of ‘shared vision, strategic convergence, substantive cooperation’, further translating the enormous goodwill into tangible outcomes.
On such basis, the two sides agreed to lift ties to an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” guided by the spirit of “shared vision, strategic convergence, and substantive cooperation”, ushering in a new phase of bilateral development.
