Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung has requested Croatia to urge the European Commission (EC) to soon remove its “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood exports over illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has underlined that having the European Commission’s "yellow card" warning over illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing removed in 2025 and sustainably developing the fisheries sector is an urgent and essential task, one that must be completed without delay.

The Republic of Korea (RoK) government said it has shared fisheries management and inspection experience with Vietnam to help the country fight illegal fishing, reported Yonhap News Agency on September 11.

After Vietnam received a “yellow card” from the European Commission because of its failure to meet standards against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, stakeholders are preparing a national action plan to prevent, minimise and eliminate IUU fishing by 2025.
