The province currently has 3,567 unidentified martyrs’ graves, including 612 with incomplete information and 2,955 with no information. In response to the 500-day campaign to recover and identify the remains of fallen soldiers lacking information through DNA testing, the provincial Military Command is collecting remains samples at local martyrs’ cemeteries.
The 500-Day Campaign to Accelerate Search, Recovery, Identification of Fallen Soldiers' Remains is entering its peak phase nationwide. The effort is described as a “mission from the heart”, as around 175,000 fallen soldiers’ remains have yet to be found and more than 300,000 martyrs’ graves remain unidentified. This issue continues to weigh heavily on many families and remains a matter of concern for the Party, State and military leaders, as well as the public.
The “500-day-and-night campaign” aims to mobilise the combined strength of the entire Party, political system, armed forces and society to accelerate progress in carrying out the task, regarded as both a special political mission and a meaningful activity of gratitude to those who laid down their lives for the Fatherland's independence and freedom and the people's happiness.
