The launch of a new cruise service connecting Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province and Lan Ha Bay in neighbouring Hai Phong city marks a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity and promoting the conservation and value of the UNESCO-recogniaed Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago.
The new passenger transport scheme, jointly implemented by the two localities, is designed to facilitate seamless travel across the heritage zone and materialise their cooperation commitments following UNESCO’s recognition of the Ha Long Bay–Cat Ba Archipelago complex.
The trip was a valuable opportunity for the guests to explore the natural landscape and heritage value of the trans-provincial world natural heritage site, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.
Six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) will be signed in the fields of infrastructure and urban development on this occasion. In addition, Hai Phong will grant investment licences to 23 major projects with a total registered capital of approximately 15 billion USD.
Located within the World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, Lan Ha Bay is dubbed the "precious gem" of Vietnam's marine and island tourism. Boasting pristine and peaceful beauty with hundreds of large and small islands, along with a diverse and rich ecosystem, the bay is a really appealing destination for travelers far and wide.

Cat Ba archipelago which is offshore of Cat Hai district in the northern port city of Hai Phong comprises 367 islets and boasts white sand beaches and deep clear waters. The site received UNESCO recognition as a world biosphere reserve in 2004. Its Lan Ha Bay was among the most beautiful bays of the world, housing hundreds of magnificent mountains and ancient caves.
The pristine scenery in Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba is difficult to find anywhere else. Soft sandy beaches stretching between two rocky mountains and light waves all made such ideal beaches for visitors.
