Imported cars outpaced domestically assembled ones in September, pushing the recovery of Vietnam’s automobile market, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).

Auto sales by members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) reached 36,585 units in September, a 45% increase over the previous month, following the implementation of a 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically manufactured and assembled vehicles.

Auto businesses are concerned about Vietnam’s future policy orientation with regard to the auto industry, which they think will affect their business strategy.

Members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) sold more than 177,000 cars in the first eight months of the year, down 6 percent from the same time last year.
