Continued infrastructure development and steady FDI, particularly in electronics, semiconductors and data centres, are expanding Malaysia's productive capacity and underpinning medium-term growth prospects, said the HSBC chief Asia economist.
Malaysia's GDP expanded by 5.9% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, surpassing the estimates, the Malaysian government and the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) have reported.
The Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd on February 9 stated that Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth is projected to hit 8.4% in 2022 compared with 3.1% in 2021, marking the highest among ASEAN countries.
