JICA President Tanaka Akihiko said he is pleased to return to Vietnam and see landmark projects of bilateral ties now operational and delivering clear benefits to the public, including Nhat Tan Bridge and Ho Chi Minh City’s metro line No. 1.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has submitted a proposal to the municipal People’s Council for approval of investment plans and adjustments to several public investment projects, including the Tran Hung Dao, Tu Lien and Ngoc Hoi bridges.

Many key transportation projects in Vietnam using Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) have been put into action over the past 45 years since the two countries established their diplomatic ties. The projects have helped complete local infrastructure demand, serving the country’s rapid growth.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has presented the JICA President Award to three transport projects funded by Japanese ODA that have formed a new international gateway in Hanoi.
