Chief of the ministry's Office Lam Van Hoang said at a conference on July 7 that 219 km of national highways were built and another 212 km were upgraded in the first six months.

ccording to the Department for Roads of Vietnam, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) is investing in nine rest stops. At the Mai Son–National Highway 45 rest area, 10 charging points have been installed on each side of the expressway. Each point has two charging ports, providing 20 EV charging spaces on each side.

Inspecting sub-projects of the eastern North–South expressway which run through four provinces, the PM acknowledged the efforts of ministries, sectors, localities and construction forces for implementing the projects, despite complex weather conditions, challenging terrain and difficulties in construction materials supply.

Stretching more than 110 km with a total investment of over 27.5 trillion VND (1.04 billion USD), the project not only resolves long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the Mekong Delta, but also opens up new development opportunities for the entire region - especially Ca Mau, the last locality in the country to be directly connected to the eastern North–South expressway axis.

PM Pham Minh Chinh required that the construction progress and quality of projects must be ensured, with no cost overruns, no corruption or wastefulness, hygiene ensured, and the environment restored.
