All citizen-government transactions to go fully digital by 2035

Looking ahead to 2035, Vietnam envisions becoming a comprehensive and sustainable digital nation where all transactions between citizens and government agencies are conducted online. National databases, with population data at the core, will be interconnected and efficiently utilised to support smart governance and real-time decision-making.

Emphasising three strategic digital breakthroughs - digital institutions, digital infrastructure and digital human resources - PM Chinh called for close integration of science and technology development, innovation, administrative reforms, digital transformation and Project 06 with efforts to streamline the organisational apparatus and modernise leadership, management and working styles.

PM urges completion of database development across all sectors, levels

Many national digital platforms have been developed, with 21 out of 84 platforms already having deployment plans. The digital economy continues to expand, with revenues increasing by 28.2% year-on-year; hardware and electronics exports reaching 111.4 billion USD, up 27% year-on-year, achieving 70% of the 2025 target.

To date, the institutional framework, mechanisms, and policies have been fundamentally completed, providing a legal foundation for the development of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and the implementation of Project 06. These areas have seen remarkable progress: 5G services have been rolled out nationwide; mobile internet speed has surged into the global top 20; and the National Data Centre project is being aggressively implemented.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 10 asked for more drastic implementation of the project on developing resident data, electronic identification and authentication applications to serve national digital transformation in the 2022-2025 period, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06), and for promoting data connection and sharing to serve e-commerce development and improve tax management, thus bringing concrete and practical benefits to people and businesses.
