National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who also serves as Chairman of the National Election Council, has urged the central province of Nghe An to ensure voter lists are compiled accurately, fully and on schedule, given its large size and diverse conditions.

The elections have attracted attention from international media. Reuters reported that tens of millions of mask-wearing Vietnamese went to the polls, noting the elections are taking place as Vietnam battles a new COVID-19 outbreak that is spreading rapidly.

Voters across the country went to the poll to elect 500 deputies to the 15th National Assembly among 866 candidates on May 23.

A strict safety protocol against COVID-19 is carried out at polling stations to ensure safety for voters given the complicated developments of the coronavirus pandemic.
