The National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance reported that the manufacturing and processing sector remained the principal driver of economic growth, accounting for 33.07% of the economy's total value-added growth during the first six months of the year.
Key export categories, including electronics, computers, machinery, garments, wooden furniture, and farm produce, all posted vigorous gains, underscoring that Vietnamese firms are seizing reviving orders across major destinations.
Multinational corporations are no longer simply relocating factories but are establishing supplier networks, technical capabilities and regional operations centres. As a result, Vietnam’s real opportunity lies not in attracting more factories, but in capturing higher value-added activities surrounding them.
As of April 15, electronics exports posted robust growth, reaching 55.4 billion USD. Computers, electronic products and components generated 36.5 billion USD, surging 47.3% year-on-year, while phones and components contributed 18.9 billion USD, up 19.7%.
Electronics export has witnessed vigorous recovery, posting double-digit growth over seven and a half months and expected to hit 130 - 132 billion USD in 2024.
An international exhibition on electronic components and smart manufacturing - Global Electronic Intelligent Manufacturing Show - Vietnam (GEIMS Vietnam) will be held in Hanoi from November 28-30.
