Mai Xuan Liem, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa People’s Committee, said Thailand is one of the province’s important export markets, with export turnover reaching more than 12 million USD in the first five months of 2026.
Following their activities in Udon Thani province, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok on May 27 afternoon, continuing their official visit to Thailand.
Bilateral relations between Vietnam and Thailand have developed rapidly in recent years, with the upgrade from a Strategic Partnership in 2013 to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership in 2019, and a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025 - one of the highest tiers of diplomatic relations.
According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong, the upcoming visit carries special significance as it is General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam’s first visit to an ASEAN country in his new capacity and comes shortly after the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
PM Pham Minh Chinh proposed that Thailand consider facilitating stable fuel supply for Vietnam’s civil aviation sector, thus contributing to socio-economic stability and development, as well as bilateral trade and tourism.
Vietnam values cooperative ties with ASEAN member states, including Thailand, for the sake of peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
Vietnam and Thailand have officially upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the ongoing trip to Vietnam by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
