To date, Team 192, in coordination with its Lao counterparts, has collected information on seven possible martyrs’ graves for search and collection.

Over a 105-day mission from March 26 to June 30, Team K72 collected information, conducted field searches and excavations, and recovered the remains of 62 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Cambodia's Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces.

The remains were recovered during the 2025–2026 dry-season search and repatriation mission conducted by Team K52 of the Gia Lai provincial Military Command.

Laos will do its utmost to direct relevant agencies, local authorities and military units to coordinate closely with Vietnamese counterparts in carrying out the campaign, affirmed a Lao military official.

The sacrifices of martyrs symbolised Vietnam’s spirit of international solidarity and played an important role in the revolutionary victories of both Vietnam and Laos, while further strengthening the special friendship between the two countries. Their legacy remains an enduring testament to courage, sacrifice and proletarian internationalism.

Over the past four decades, the special task forces of the Vietnamese and Lao governments, together with Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence, Military Region 4 Command and Nghe An province, have closely coordinated with Lao localities to search for and repatriate 12,897 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos.

During the second phase of the 25th campaign alone, nearly two months of operations under challenging terrain and weather conditions, as well as the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance, enabled search teams to recover 158 sets of remains, bringing the total number recovered during the campaign to 322.

Based on recovered artefacts and eyewitness accounts, Search Team K91 under the Dong Thap provincial Military Command believed that the remains belong to five Vietnamese martyrs who died in 1972-1973. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.

The remains of the 156 martyrs were repatriated during the 24th mission of the team K73 under the provincial Military Command.

From February 24 to June 26, two teams of province - K70 and K71 - searched and collected the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and expert in the five Cambodian provinces of Tboung Khmum, Kampong Cham, Banteay Meanchey, Otdar Meanchey, and Seam Reap.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.

A total of 146 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who laid down their lives in Cambodia while defending the southwestern border and fulfilling international duties, were reburied in Tay Ninh province on January 22. 

A get-together was held in Hanoi on October 29 to mark the 75th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos (October 30, 1949 - 2024).

A memorial and reburial ceremony was held in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on July 24 to honour the sacrifices of 88 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid their lives in Cambodia and An Giang.

Vietnam's search teams located and collected the remains of 184 martyrs in Laos in the 2023-2024 dry season, with nine identified by name and hometown, heard a meeting between special task forces of the Vietnamese and Lao governments held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 24.

The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum organised a memorial and burial service on June 6 for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives during wars in Laos and Cambodia.

Forty-three remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives during wars in Cambodia, arrived home on January 25, with the welcoming ceremony held at the Hoa Lu international border gate in the southern province of Binh Phuoc’s Loc Ninh district.

The provincial Steering Committee for search, collection and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains (Steering Committee 515) in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on January 25 held a ceremony at Binh Hiep international border gate to receive 34 boxes of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in the battlefields in Cambodia during wartime.

The People's Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Long An on July 18 held a memorial and re-burial services at the Vinh Hung - Tan Hung martyrs cemetery in Vinh Hung district for the remains of 42 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in the battlefields in Cambodia during wartime.

A respect paying ceremony and a reburial service were held at a martyrs’ cemetery in the north-central province of Nghe An on May 25 to rebury the remains of 103 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos.
