Since becoming the seventh member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on July 28, 1995, Vietnam has steadily strengthened its standing as a proactive, active and responsible member of the regional bloc. The country has made proactive contributions to maintaining peace and stability, promoting prosperity, advancing regional integration and building the ASEAN Community.

Vietnam pledges to do its utmost to build an ASEAN of solidarity, consensus, and unity in diversity, and to foster a fast and sustainable development path for ASEAN, grounded in science, technology, and innovation, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Since the beginning of its membership in 1995, the country has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to ASEAN’s core principles of unity, consensus, and regional resilience, said Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN Ambassador Derry Aman.
