Vietnam’s cashew industry has faced a pressing challenge despite an export revenue of over 5 billion USD for the first time in 2025, as this impressive figure has yet to translate into commensurate economic efficiency for exporting enterprises, especially when the industry seeks to ensure that its position as the world’s leading cashew exporter is matched by sustainable profitability.

Vietnam’s cashew industry would need to restructure production and processing in order to ensure enough raw materials for sustainable development, according to experts.

Vietnam exported 141,000 tonnes of cashew in the first five months of 2018, raking in more than 1.39 billion USD, reported the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam’s cashew industry has targeted 300,000 tonnes of cashew exports at a value of 3 billion USD this year, a year-on-year reduction of 50,000 tonnes in volume and 500 million USD in value.
