Vietravel Airlines currently operates routes linking major economic and tourism hubs across Vietnam while gradually expanding its international footprint. In addition to scheduled services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, it launched charter flights between Hanoi and Lanzhou in China’s Gansu province on June 20.
Flight VU1213, operating the Hanoi–Buon Ma Thuot service with 220 passengers on board, landed at Buon Ma Thuot Airport at 2:20 pm on June 15. The flight marked Vietravel Airlines’ inaugural service on the new route linking the capital with the Central Highlands’ largest city.
This aircraft marks the first in a plan to add nine more planes over the next six months. Continued induction of Airbus A321 aircraft throughout 2026 will allow the airline to optimise scheduling, improve efficiency and better meet growing market demand.
Vietravel Airlines is adopting several measures to enhance its operational and service capabilities. It expects to receive an additional aircraft by the end of March, which will expand its fleet and underpin further network expansion.
The new route comes amid rising travel demand, especially during the peak period before and after the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. As scheduled, Vetravel Airlines plans to operate three daily flights on this route.
During the peak period of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival in 2026, Vietravel Airlines plans to operate six – eight flights daily on the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route, three flights daily on the Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh routes; and two flights daily on the Ho Chi Minh City – Quy Nhon route.
Under the programme, essential supplies such as food, medicine, and clothing will be carried on the airline’s regular flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang (SGN – DAD) and Hanoi – Da Nang (HAN – DAD) from November 4 to 20.
To meet growing year-end travel demand for business, tourism, and family visits, Vietravel Airlines has added an Airbus A320 with 180 seats to its fleet.
On the first charter flight, passengers were treated with a tea making demonstration and the Huangshan Maofeng tea, reflecting the airline’s philosophy of infusing local culture into passenger experience so that each flight is not merely a trip but also a bridge of culture between nations.
Vietnam’s aviation market has also become more competitive with the entry of new carriers such as Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, BlueSky Airways and Sun Phu Quoc Airways, bringing the total number of local airlines to 13.
By 2030, Vietravel Airlines aims to operate between 30 and 50 aircraft, with routes covering Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East.
