A ceremony took place at Dong Thap University, in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on September 9 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962) and the 40th year of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977).

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the National Assemblies of Vietnam and Laos as well as their committees to enhance cooperation, especially in sharing experience in making laws, supervising and making decisions on important issues.

Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou met with Lao students who are studying in the northern province of Son La on July 5.

The top legislators of Vietnam and Laos have agreed to enhance coordination in implementing effectively cooperation agreements and programmes between the two countries’ legislatures, thus strengthening the bilateral relations in the coming time.

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Vice President Phankham Viphavan hailed the fruitful relations between the two Parties, States, Governments and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
