Australian volunteers have contributed not only to the success of organisations in Vietnam but also the common growth of the country, said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick.
The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on May 12 opened a free swimming class for 106 children with disabilities in an effort to reduce child drowning accidents.
As many as 350 children and elderly persons in the Mekong Delta
province of Tien Giang were equipped with swimming skills via seven
classes held with assistance from Australian volunteers.
The central province of
Thue Thien-Hue has been working hard to disarm tens of thousands of
bombs and mines left underground by the war so as to give safe land back
to its locals.
The Australian Embassy in Vietnam held a photo exhibition entitled
“Cooperation and Developing” on December 5 in Hanoi to commemorate
the UN international volunteer day.
A celebration was held in Hanoi on Jan. 16 to mark the 60th founding
anniversary of the Australian Volunteers International (AVI) and its
26th year of operation in Vietnam.
