China’s military drill in the area covering islands and reefs in the northeast of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago severely violates Vietnam’s sovereignty over the chain of islands, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said at a regular press conference on July 23.

Historic proof affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are being spotlighted at an exhibition held in the central province of Quang Tri on June 11.

Vietnam’s deployment of a rescue ship to the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago is normal and lawful as the country has indisputable sovereignty over the archipelago, stated Deputy Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang at the ministry’s regular press conference on June 4.

A copy of imperial records of the Nguyen Dynasty asserting Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos has been donated to the Foreign Ministry’s National Boundary Commission by cultural researcher Ho Tan Phan.

Exhibits affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos are being showcased at an exhibition in central Nghe An province’s Vinh city on May 26.

Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago is an integral territory of Vietnam and its waters have long been the traditional fishing grounds of Vietnamese fishermen, affirmed Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Le Hai Binh.

The Prime Minister has recently approved a plan to organise exhibitions on the historical and legal evidence of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos from 2015 to 2017.
