Vietnam commits to further supporting and accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia in the country, and working towards a responsible ocean governance.
A workshop seeking cooperation opportunities and development of a blue economy in the seas of East Asia was held within the framework of the 5th East Asian Seas Congress in Da Nang from Nov 16-21.
Vietnam has shared its experience in oil spill preparedness and response, highlighting the importance of developing oil spill contingency plans at provincial and local levels.
The 5th East Asian Seas Congress, which will take place in Da Nang, will offer an opportunity for Vietnam and regional nations to take initiatives in integrated coastal zone management.
Vietnam will host for the first time the 5th East Asian Seas Congress themed “Global targets, local benefits – Setting the sustainable development agenda for the seas of East Asia beyond 2015”.
The fifth East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress will take place from November 16-21 in the central city of Da Nang, gathering 700 Vietnamese and foreign delegates.
