The Philippines has officially notified the US about the termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) between the two countries, according to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Troops from the Philippines and the US on May 7 began a series of joint military exercises designed to hone their collaboration skills in anti-terrorism and humanitarian assistance.
Philippine Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said on October 7 that plans for joint patrols and naval exercises between the Philippines and the US have been postponed.
