The Vietnamese - German University (VGU) will become a "lighthouse" project in the relationship between the two countries and a bright spot in Vietnam’s tertiary education system in the coming time, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
A delegation from Ho Chi Minh City led by Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan paid a working visit to Hessen state of Germany from May 22-24.
As many as 71 outstanding students studying at universities and colleges in Vietnam’s southern localities were granted scholarships each worth 216 EUR from the German State of Hessen.
The German State of Hessen has paid heed to enforcing ties with Vietnam, particularly in education, said Professor Gambiz Ghawami, a local representative.
President Truong Tan Sang has affirmed the role and position of the German State of Hessen in the thriving bilateral relations between Vietnam and Germany.
Vietnam will work closely with Germany to turn the Vietnam-Germany University (VGU) into a model university, contributing to comprehensively reforming Vietnam’s university education system.
Binh Duong-based VN-Germany University should provide international-standard training for not only local students but also those from other Southeast Asian countries, said President Truong Tan Sang.
