Thailand’s Constitutional Court on March 7 ordered the dissolution of the Thai Raksa Chart Party for nominating Princess Ubolratana, a member of the Royal Family, as its candidate for prime minister in the upcoming general election later this month.
Thailand’s Election Commission on February 11 announced the list of candidates for the premiership in the general election on March 24, and they do not include Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi.
The Thai Raksa Chart Party will obey a command from King Maha Vajiralongkorn blocking the candidacy of Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi for prime minister, it said in a statement issued on February 9.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha confirmed on February 8 that he will contest in the upcoming March 24 election as a candidate of the pro-military Palang Pracharat Party.
