Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, voiced his concern about recent tensions along the Blue Line in Lebanon and relevant sides’ violations to resolution 1701, at a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on August 10 which discussed the situation in Lebanon and the operation of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Nguyen Phuong Tra, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, has called on parties in Lebanon to take prompt action to form a government to help the country avoid collapsing.

Vietnam called upon sides involved to soon reach agreement for the establishment of a new government in Lebanon at an UN Security Council briefing held on March 18 regarding Lebanon situation and the implementation of the UNSC’s Resolution 1701.

Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations, has called on the international community and the UN organisations to continue support for Lebanon to overcome challenges.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) held an online meeting on August 11 to discuss the situation in Lebanon and recent developments in the Darfur region of Sudan.

A Vietnamese representative to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has called on the concerned parties to intensify efforts towards peaceful settlement in Lebanon.

“Vietnam stands ready to join the international community’s efforts towards the peaceful settlement of Israel-Palestine and Arab-Israel conflicts, and the ultimate attainment of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East;” said the Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN.

Vietnam welcomes and supports the efforts made at various levels by the Quartet, the League of Arab States, regional countries and the international community at large to help the parties resume peaceful negotiations in the Middle East, said a diplomat.

Vietnam welcomes the general trend of peace and stability in Lebanon since the June parliamentary elections and calls for all parties concerned to soon establish a new national unity government.

Vietnam has affirmed that it will continue to support the Road Map, the Madrid terms of reference, the Arab Peace Initiative and call for strict implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions in order to achieve peace in the Middle East region.

Vietnam hails positive developments over the past three months in Lebanon , while remains concerned about a number of unresolved issues that hinder an agreement on a permanent ceasefire between the two parties.
