President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) Nguyen Ngoc Bao has asked Japan to help Vietnam develop multi-service cooperatives which have proved successful in Japan.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) along with the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU) and Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) have signed a coordination programme to implement the National Assembly’s target of having 15,000 agricultural cooperatives and cooperative alliances operating effectively by 2020.
Chairman of the International Cooperative Fisheries Organisation (ICFO) Kim Im-Kweon has agreed to provide 10,000 USD to support fisheries cooperatives and fishermen in Vietnam’s central coastal provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan, which were severely affected by the recent typhoon Damrey.
The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) will concentrate on devising support policies in terms of capital, land, technology and market access, while building a value chain model connecting households, cooperatives and businesses, said VCA President Vo Kim Cu.
The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA)’s Cooperative Union of Agricultural Consumption have reached with Israeli partners a deal to develop a supply chain of clean agricultural products.
It is necessary to reorganise the cooperative sector through gathering individual producers in cooperatives and cooperative groups in the time ahead, said VFF leader Nguyen Thien Nhan.
