Vietnam saw decreases in the numbers of traffic accidents and injuries, but reported an increase in the number of fatalities in the six months from December 15, 2021 to June 14, 2022, according to the National Committee for Traffic Safety.
Vietnam expects to reduce the rate of fatalities caused by accidents and injuries among children to five per 100,000 by 2030, according to a programme newly approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on prevention of injuries and accidents among children for the 2021-2030 period.
Ho Chi Minh City hopes to reduce traffic accidents, fatalities and injuries by 5-10 percent this year, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on January 8.
A total of 12,985 traffic accidents claimed 6,048 lives and injured 9,652 others in the first 11 months of this year, representing significant annual declines of 18.2, 13.2, and 20.5 percent.
