The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak – Vietnam’s capital of coffee – pocketed 798 million USD in coffee exports in 2022, accounting for 53.2% of the locality’s total export turnover.

Vietnam’s coffee export turnover is forecast to hit 4 billion USD in 2022, according the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnam shipped nearly 890,000 tonnes of coffee overseas for more than 2 billion USD in the first five months of 2022, up over and 54 percent year on year, respectively.

The harvest season is underway at coffee plantations in the Central Highlands, but lower prices than previous years are causing problems for farmers.

The domestic agricultural sector is working to raise the quality and value of Vietnamese coffee given that coffee export turnover has yet to match the volume.
