The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) on January 17 launched a programme to grant social insurance books and health insurance cards, along with gifts, to poor people nationwide, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
The social security agencies will provide electronic health insurance cards for participants. This will bring great benefits to all stakeholders such as health insurance participants.
According to a report from the Vietnam Social Security (VSS), as of October 31, 2018, the number of health insurance card holders in the country reached 82.33 million or 87.62 percent of the population.
The percentage of Vietnamese citizens with health care insurance has risen dramatically, reaching 81.7 percent as of last year thanks to new regulations in the Health Insurance Law.
