Vietnam reported an estimated trade deficit of 176 million USD in the first two months of the year, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO). ​

The US was the largest importer of Vietnam in the first seven months of 2019 with a turnover of 32.5 billion USD, a year-on-year surge of 25.4 percent, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc laid stress on the significance of bolstering cooperation with the European Union (EU), a leading strategic partner of Vietnam in economy, trade and investment while chairing a meeting to evaluate bilateral collaboration in the past time in Hanoi on April 14.

The European Union (EU), which makes up about one fourth of the world consumption, is now the fourth largest importer of Vietnam’s timber and wood products after US, Japan and China.
