The Khanh Hoa-based Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals under the Ministry of Health in coordination with PATH organisation has jointly studied a COVID-19 vaccine called Covicac, which uses egg-based vaccine production technology.

The first 35 volunteers received injections of the locally-produced Nano Covax vaccine in the 2nd phase of human trials at the Military Medical University in Hanoi on February 26. Nanocovax is Vietnam’s first COVID-19 vaccine to reach the human trial stage.

The Military Medical Academy on December 17 begins the first-phase human trial of made-in-Vietnam COVID-19 vaccine called Nanocovax.

The first human trial of COVID-19 vaccine Nanocovax began in Vietnam on December 17 with the first three volunteers, one man and two women aged 20-25, receiving injections at the Military Medical Academy.

About 200 people have registered to participate in the clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine Nanocovax, a health official said on December 16. ​

Vietnam will conduct the first phase of human trials of a locally made COVID-19 vaccine from December 10, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said at a meeting with Vietnamese vaccine producers on December 5.
