Nguyen Thi Lua, 54, a homemaker in Hanoi, was detected with leukaemia at Saint Paul Hospital where she had registered for a check-up, funded by health insurance.
The Ministry of Health has asked 122 hospitals to interlink their medical exam results with each other in an effort to eliminate redundant examinations.
Some 448 million medical tests are done in the country each year, but only a third of the country’s health facilities subject their tests to external quality assessments (EQAs).
