The Medical Hub Board of Thailand is to propose that the government allow direct international flights to quarantine spa and resort locations in facilitation of medical tourists, adding to Special Tourist VISA (STV) visitors being allowed into the country to stimulate its economy.
The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) recently relaxed measures allowing four groups of foreigners to return to Thailand, including patients returning for a medical follow-up or those who have joined the government’s Medical and Wellness programme.
Aside from cultural and historical tourism, Ho Chi Minh City also boasts potential for medical tourism thanks to the concentration of many leading hospitals of Vietnam, heard a workshop held on September 4.
With a growing number of medical tourists who combine travel with medical care coming to HCM City in recent years, lucrative medical tourism needs concerted efforts by various official agencies and travel firms to realise its huge potential, experts have said.
