Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim has announced four educational policy programmes dubbed "Merdeka Belajar" or freedom of learning, including the termination of the national examination (UN) starting in 2021.

In addition to results of national high school examinations, universities will add general ability tests to select students.

Many universities in HCM City have unveiled new enrollment plans for the next academic year.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 3 praised nearly 40 students who made high achievements at national, regional and international exams, urging them to make greater efforts to drive the country to the fourth industrial revolution.

Nearly 900,000 students nationwide registered for the national high school exam, the most important exam after 12 years of study, which takes place from July 1-4.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has spoken highly of the efforts made by ethnic minority students who achieved outstanding results on national exams and received high marks at school.
