Thousands of people in Indonesia prayed for rain in haze-hit towns throughout Sumatra and Borneo islands as forest fires raged at the height of the dry season, Antara news agency reported on September 11.
The Cham ethnic minority group has preserved many traditional cultural rituals, one of them being the praying-for-rain festival which prays for favourable weather and bumper crops.
Around twenty people from Kho Mu community in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien conducted a ritual to pray for rain on the outskirts of Hanoi on November 16.
