As Thailand begins to gradually ease coronavirus-related restrictions, the government is looking to cement the country's position as an advanced medical hub in Asia.

Vietnam is striving to build a sustainable, equal and effective financial mechanism to ensure that all people get access to quality healthcare services, said Deputy Minister of Health Pham Le Tuan.

More than 6 million poor people were provided with free health checkups and medicines thanks to a humanitarian programme on treatment and public health services in the 2014-2017 period.

Seven young doctors from the Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics and Bach Mai Hospital have been dispatched to work in impoverished districts in the northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai, Bac Kan, Son La and Dien Bien.
