In order to take advantage of FTAs and increase the Vietnamese rice export market share at more competitive prices, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with ministries, branches and the Vietnam Food Association to help businesses effectively implement the deals and make the most of markets such as the Republic of Korea and the EU.
Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has bolstered rice exports to Hong Kong (China) and invited rice importers from Hong Kong to discuss the import of Thai rice in the coming time, reported Thai media on November 1.
Vietnam aims to export 4 million tonnes of rice in 2030 under a 2017-2020 rice export development strategy with a vision to 2030 recently approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Vietnam exported 325,000 tonnes of rice worth 136 million USD in January, down 32 percent in volume and 35.1 percent in value compared to the same month in 2016.
