Laos’ rice export value in 2021 nearly halved due to COVID-19 restriction measures, reported the Vientiane Times.

Vietnam has seen strong growth in rice exports in the first five months of this year, shipping nearly 2.9 million tonnes abroad for 1.41 billion USD, up 5.1 percent and 18.9 percent, respectively, year-on-year.

The application of advanced technology in preservation and processing is the most important factor in Vietnam’s rice value chain, said Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
