The northern region enjoyed record rice output and productivity in the 2020-2021 Winter-Spring crop, it was reported at an online review conference on May 28.
Vietnam’s northern region harvested some 5.6 million tonnes of rice during the summer-autumn crop, up more than 320,000 tonnes from the same period last year, heard a recent conference.
A Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh, has attended the Thailand Rice Convention 2017 in Bangkok from May 28 – 30.
The Mekong Delta region had completed harvesting the year’s first rice crop (winter-spring crop) by the end of April, recording a slight year-on-year fall of 2.4 percent in productivity to 6.27 tonnes
An Giang Import Export Company (Angimex), one of the large rice export companies in Vietnam, plans to focus on improving its rice quality and better controlling plant-protection residues to promote rice exports, especially to the US and EU markets.
