Vietnam has actively participated in environmental protection activities in response to the Earth Day (April 22), and is striving to save energy, which is expected to help cut budget spending and keeping fossil fuels for future generations.
Vietnam saved 353,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 658.1 million VND (28,635 USD), during one hour from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 27, when the entire country turned off unnecessary electric appliances in response to Earth Hour 2021, according to the National Power Dispatch Centre.
Ho Chi Minh City has set a target of saving 2 - 2.5 percent of energy consumption per year between now and 2020, with a view to protecting the environment.
