Thousands of Buddhist monks, followers and tourists flocked to the Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) festival that opened in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on August 3.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue is implementing a project to
train teachers and students in risk reduction during disasters,
according to Hoang Ngoc Khanh, Chief of Office of the provincial
People’s Committee.
An internet festival took place in Hue city in the central province
of Thua Thien-Hue on July 15 as part of the “Improving Computer Usage
and Public Internet Access in Vietnam” project.

international and local tours to promote tourism potential of Hue
imperial city and other destinations in the central regions in foreign

first half of 2015, equal to 112 percent of the yearly target.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue will set aside over 36 trillion
VND (1.71 billion USD) for transport infrastructure between now and
2020, targeting to handle 15 million tonnes of cargo and serve 24
million passengers.
Close to 1.6 million tourists arrived
in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue in the first six months of
this year, including 572,000 international visitors.
After six months of methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) in central
Thua Thien-Hue province, about 75 percent of drug addicts using the
therapy have seen improved physical and mental health; many of them
found jobs and have settled down.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue is running a water safety
and survival skills programme for local schools in order to reduce the
number of cases of drowning among children in the locality.
Central Thua Thien-Hue province will focus its efforts on restoring up
to 40 local renowned gardens houses through 2020 instead of 150 houses
as set from the previous period.
The central province of Thua Thien Hue held a reburial service at
the Hue city martyrs’ cemetery on May 16 for the remains of 13
Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who lost their lives during
wartime in Laos.
Almost 68 percent of people living in rural areas in central Thua
Thien-Hue province have gained access to clean water thanks to
preferential loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue is considering the possibility of
building an industrial zone exclusively designed for garments, an
industry that generates over 20,000 local jobs.
