Several flower festivals and markets opened across Ho Chi Minh City on January 17, adding to the festive air in the city as the traditional New Year (Tet) festival is nearing.
The Vietnamese traditional New Year (Tet) festival actually begins on the 23rd of the last month of the lunar year, which falls on January 17 this year, with the “Ong Cong - Ong Tao” (Land Genie and Kitchen Gods) ritual.
The first 20 free buses departed on February 10 carrying 1,725 poor workers to their hometown for traditional New Year (Tet) festival as part of a programme launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour.
