The Malaysian government said on January 20 that the country will send back an additional 110 containers of plastic waste to source nations after having successfully returned 150.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and relevant agencies on August 22 discussed measures to tighten control of used goods import and the re-export of waste shipments which failed to meet environmental protection regulations.
Cambodian officials affirmed that strict measures have been taken to curb the illegal import of plastic waste after detecting 83 containers filled with the waste at a sea port last month.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will conduct inspections of the Vietnam Environment Administration along with 64 organisations and 10 departments relating to natural resources and the environment during the performance of legal regulations on environmental protection while importing waste as production materials.
