Vietnam earned about 1.52 billion USD from wood and forestry exports in March, raising the value in the first three months of this year to over 3.94 billion USD, up 41.5 percent year-on-year.
The export value of the wood processing and forestry sector was 2.18 billion USD in the second quarter of 2020, dropping 11.3 percent against the first quarter and 20 percent against the same period last year.
In 2019, Vietnam wood and forestry exports reach a new height of 11.2 billion USD, up 19.2% compared to 2018. The sector aims to earn 12.5 billion USD from exports in 2020.
Nguyen Phuong, sales director of Minh Thanh Co., Ltd, said his company plans to invest more than 50 billion VND (2.15 million USD) in a production chain for bedroom and living room furniture.
2019 is expected to be a good year for Vietnamese wood and wooden furniture exporters thanks to the expansion of markets, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
